Mira Calix, the digital producer celebrated for her elaborate, highly imaginative new music and sound art, has died aged 51.
Her label, Warp Documents, announced the information, and did not give a trigger of loss of life. A statement posted to social media explained in portion: “Mira was not only a massively talented artist and composer, she was also a stunning, caring human who touched the life of everybody who had the honour of operating with her … she pushed the boundaries between electronic audio, classical songs and art in a truly exclusive way.”
Born Chantal Passamonte in South Africa in 1970, Calix moved to London in 1991 to go after a profession in music, 1st operating as a publicist for Warp together with promoting club nights and DJing, prior to releasing her songs with the label.
As with her labelmates, her get the job done realised the wide options of digital manufacturing in playful and adventurous songs that experienced roots in club tradition but spanned a remarkably wide stylistic selection, touching on ambient, sounds, neo-classical and more.

Her 2003 function Nunu showcased the seem of reside insects on stage, whilst Inside of There Falls, a 2015 collaboration with Sydney Dance Company, utilized concealed speakers worn by dancers in a cell, four-dimensional piece.
